Banool is located on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung, Gulidjan, and Gadubanud peoples, set prominently on a hilltop site. The project is deeply informed by its cultural and natural context, responding sensitively to both landscape and place.
The design emerges from the unique shape of the site, using its geometry and topography to guide the architectural outcome. Form, orientation, and materiality work together to create a dwelling that feels grounded, intentional, and connected to its surroundings.
Banool is a considered response to context - balancing simplicity, performance, and a strong relationship to land, resulting in a home that is both site-specific and enduring.
